Rave Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 21, 2026

Rave is a social watch-party app that lets people create rooms, synchronize playback, chat, use optional voice chat, and store supported Google Drive videos locally on their own device. This policy explains what data Rave processes and how it is used.

Overview

Rave does not sell personal or sensitive user data. Rave does not use user data for third-party advertising. Rave does not store OTT usernames or passwords and does not download, proxy, extract, rebroadcast, or bypass DRM for protected video streams.

Data Rave May Collect Or Process

Google Drive Videos And Local Storage

When you choose to store a supported public Google Drive video, the app downloads the file directly to private app storage on your device. Rave backend servers do not store, host, or stream your movie files. Local video files can be deleted from the app's Storage screen or by uninstalling the app.

YouTube And OTT Provider Content

YouTube discovery is handled through the Rave backend so API keys are not stored in the Android app. YouTube playback uses embedded YouTube playback where available. OTT provider sessions run on each user's own device using their own official provider account. Rave will not store OTT credentials, extract media URLs, bypass DRM, download OTT videos, proxy OTT streams, or rebroadcast protected content.

Voice Chat And Microphone Permission

Rave requests microphone access only when you choose to use voice chat. Voice is transmitted through the voice service for real-time room conversation. Rave does not record or store voice calls.

How We Use Data

Sharing

Rave shares room-related information with participants in the same room so the service works. Rave uses service providers such as Firebase, Google Sign-In, hosting infrastructure, and real-time voice infrastructure to operate the app. We do not sell your personal data.

Security

We use HTTPS for backend communication and keep sensitive backend keys out of the Android app. No internet service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to protect Rave data using reasonable technical and organizational safeguards.

Retention And Deletion

Local app data can be removed from the app or by uninstalling Rave. Account deletion can be requested from the Account Deletion page. Some records may be retained where required for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or service integrity.

Children

Rave is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Rave, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The updated policy will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
